Technology isn’t the devil.
Until 1994, any teen in America could buy a 30-round magazine, in person or by mail. From 1957 to 1968, they could buy an AR15 to go with it, mail order if they so wished. After 1968, they would have to be at least 18 and buy it in person…still, plenty of teens and young adults had them with few problems. Sure, mass shootings could happen…with 3-shot hunting rifles wielded by much older people, who in turn were suppressed by lawful college students with personal rifles.
Once “gun free zones” guaranteed disarmed prey to psychopaths, and mass media guaranteed fame, the incentives for attacking vulnerable segments of the population were in place. The results have been as predictable as they are unnecessary. Compare the experience of home schools, where the mentors and a high percentage of the students are armed…yet no mass shootings occur. Factors other than access to hundred year old technology are at work here.
Waiting for the predator.
Certain creatures like my friend’s fowl as food. Certain friends prefer those creatures as pelts. Frontier model 22WMR with a 24″ barrel works well for the task.
Tree-hugging for stability
I forget what rifle this is…I think M700 in 5.56mm with a Magpul stock and Geissele trigger.
Find inner peace.
Details: Keystone 722 Youth rimfire carbine, Riton 2-7x scope with 22LR BDC reticle, Hunter HD Gold glasses for better contrast, CCI ammunition.
Siblings
CJ (10) and Shyanne (13) are what’s right with American youth. Smart, personable and more independent than many adults, they are my allies for winning the future from the authoritarian busybodies.

A good birthday party
One of my longtime friends just turned 18. One advantage of dealing with well-raised home-schooled kids — they act like mature humans a lot sooner than most, so Grace and I have worked together since she was 12.
Thanks to various industry friends (Windham, Hi-Lux, Federal, others), her birthday was a little better equipped than most. This photo was made for the upcoming article illustrating how conservatives’ war on women is progressing…so far, they seem to be doing it all wrong. At least the tendency to get arms and training for young women appears counterproductive to the task of properly subjugating them.
Applies to the current desert peaches too

Fun with tracers.
Southern Ballistic Research extended range 45ACP tracers combined with the low-recoil gas-operated Alpha carbine add up to fun and fearsome capability.
Ridiculous, defined
This is a 1954 Chinese type 53 (a clone of the Soviet M44 Mosin carbine). Somebody chopped the forend short, replaced the buttstock with an AKMS folding stock and a pistol grip of unknown provenance.
The end result is a rifle that’s nearly useless for bayonet fighting for lack of a grip space for the support hand, and rather unpleasant to fire thanks to the underfolding stock. That stock, already uncomfortable on the lower-powered, self-loading AKMS, was originally meant for an open bolt 9mm submachine gun (MP38/40) with almost no felt recoil. Every round fired from this bolt action is outright painful.

Today’s photos, the first two edits.
Random strangers on camera
On my way back from Pyramyd Air Cup 2018, I took a snapshot of a young child at Columbus airport. The eye-tracking feature of my new Sony camera worked extremely well, getting the focus just right even at 2.8 fairly close up. The kid’s mother and I talked for a while, turned out she was also heading to Nashville.
Today, I took a few studio photos of them. I’ve only edited one so far, but quite a few came out well. The kid, being a very positive, smiley cherub, stole the show.
The kid’s aunt, his mother’s younger sister, came along for company and also ended up on camera. This way, I met interesting people and gained an interesting local model. I like how things just work out.
